Don’t hesitate to ask.

How much does a tattoo cost?

That’s like asking “How much does a car cost?”. There is no standard set price across that broad of a category. A $600 car and a $60,000 car have many different features. One is safer than the other, drives smoother, and will last a lot longer.

How much a tattoo costs is dependent on Size, color, time, complexity, artist skill, etc. Getting a quote before any appointment can save both artist and client a big headache, and leaves less room for surprises.

The other thing to remember about tattoos is you’re paying someone to do a handcrafted, custom piece, made for your body, in several hours, with artistic and medical precision, that you will have for the rest of your life. That takes great skill.

How do I prep for my tattoo?

I’m so glad you asked!

First of all, HYDRATE. The day before, the week before, all the time really. But especially the weeks leading up to your appointment.

Secondly, EXFOLIATE & MOISTURIZE. Make sure that you are exfoliating your skin with a washcloth or scrubby when you’re bathing. A build up of dead skin can cause issues with the needle cartridges and make for a more difficult canvas. Moisturizing helps keep the skin healthy and hydrated.

Third, EAT. Getting a tattoo is stressful for the body and can trigger a vasovagal response, which can cause a sudden drop in blood pressure, leading to dizziness and fainting. Eating provides your body with the energy it needs to handle the stress. In some cases a full stomach can even improve pain tolerance. For longer sessions, I always recommend bringing a snack!

Fourth, WEAR COMFY CLOTHING. I always recommend you wear loose and cozy clothing for maximum comfort. A zip up hoodie is a versatile item I always recommend bringing

Fifth, AVOID ALCOHOL AND BLOOD-THINNERS. Drinking or taking blood thinners within 24 hours of your appointment can increase bleeding. Which can complicate the tattooing and healing process.

Lastly, BRING ENTERTAINMENT. As much as I love talking with my clientele, I always encourage bringing a book, handheld game, music, etc. Sometimes we need a little distraction from the pain.

Are there tattoos you won’t do?

Yes! If i am given a request that I find to be hateful, racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, etc. I will politely decline. I refuse to use my position as an artist to spread any type of discrimination.

That being said, it is a goal of mine to one day be able to offer coverups of such tattoos at a discounted rate, to ensure people can feel better in their skin.

In addition, if I get a request that I feel another artist may execute better, I will suggest that artist to you.

What does a tattoo feel like?

Tattoos hurt. Period. Pain is subjective, I cannot tell you how much a certain spot will hurt. A common way it’s described is “like a cat scratch on a sunburn”. The pain is different for everyone and greatly depends on the area.

Do you use numbing cream?

I do not offer any numbing services, and overall would prefer if my clients did not use numbing cream. This is for a variety of reasons. It makes the skin harder to work with. It blocks the natural pain signals to the brain which then prevents the typical skin reactions your immune system triggers. That being said, everyone’s pain tolerance is different. If you need and plan on using numbing cream, PLEASE INFORM ME. I need the name of the brand and the percentage. That way I can best prepare for the challenges it may present.

How does tipping work in the body modification industry?

When you pay for your tattoo, a percentage of that money goes to the studio, supplies, marketing, etc. When you tip your artist, that money goes directly into their pockets and isn’t shared with the establishment. As always tipping is never required, but always greatly appreciated.

Standard is 20% in tipping cultures. If you're doing multiple sessions, easiest thing to do is tip each session - unless you want to do 20% of the entire cost of the tattoo on your last appointment.

Other great tips are baked goods of the tattooer's choice, a nice bottle of whatever they like to drink, oddities if they're into it, you get the idea. I understand if you live in another country and don't understand tipping.

When it comes to fine art tipping is not expected, but is always a lovely surprise.

Can I book you for an event?

It has become more common to have flash tattoos offered at events. I love doing flash events. Although I need enough time and prep to be ready for an event. Please use the contact form and include as much information as possible and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
